Guts carries a mark on the back of his neck that attracts demons at night, which is why he avoids contact with humans as much as possible, even if it means he rarely has a decent bed to rest in. Dressed in dark armour, the church calls him the “the black swordsman”, also based on what they hear about him. Guts has no reputation to defend, for something much greater is in store for humanity. At the same time, he is searching for his lover Casca, who has lost her memories and is seeking revenge against Griffith, who has taken away his friends, his unborn child and his happiness.
This short episode summarises the events of the first season of the new “Berserk” series.

Guts trägt ein Mal im Nacken, das Dämonen nachts anlockt, weswegen er den Kontakt mit Menschen so gut wie möglich meidet, auch wenn er dadurch selten ein vernünftiges Bett zum Rasten hat. Gekleidet in dunkler Rüstung nennt ihn die Kirche den »schwarzen Ritter«, auch basierend auf dem, was man über ihn hört. Guts hat keinen Ruf zu verteidigen, denn etwas viel Größeres steht der Menschheit bevor, während er gleichzeitig auf der Suche nach seiner Geliebten Kjaskar ist, die ihre Erinnerungen verloren hat und Rache an Griffith nehmen will, der ihm seine Freunde, sein ungeborenes Kind und sein Glück genommen hat.
Diese kurze Episode fasst die Geschehnisse der ersten Staffel der neuen »Berserk«-Serie zusammen.
